Behaviour Change

Changing hearts and minds to inspire behavior change

We engage, empower and educate students and school communities to review, understand, and transform their environmental footprint.

We help students and their schools envision their sustainable future.

Envision

Through rigorous student-led investigations we review the school’s sustainability in every aspect from energy and travel to curriculum and governance.

Review

We cultivate a wider conversation about sustainability across the school community, engaging stakeholders through narrative, data, art and dialogue, as well as conventional communications.

Communicate

We provide technical expertise and funding solutions to support schools to implement the findings of the review and track their progress towards realizing their vision.

Implement

We partner with schools to support their long-term transition to a sustainable future.

Partner

We work with all stakeholders in the school community to envision and deliver ambitious versions of their aspirations like becoming a carbon neutral school or a zero waste school.

Students

We develop students’ eco-literacy and leadership skills through authentic project-based learning opportunities that utilize using the campus as a living laboratory.

Teachers

We support teachers in using the campus as a teaching tool.

Leadership Teams

We partner with heads of school and their leadership teams to build their schools’ capacity to become sustainable communities with a significantly smaller carbon footprint.

Building Committees and Facilities managers

We advise building committees and facilities managers on how to make their school campuses more sustainable, on feasible pathways to becoming carbon neutral and on novel ways to fund the necessary improvements.

The Sustainability Action Hub

We engage with suppliers to schools to improve the sustainability of their product and service offerings to help reduce schools’ carbon footprint.

“The tools and experience to bring your sustainability ideas to life”

Lab

What’s your sustainability vision? Electric school buses? Sustainable seafood in the cafeteria? Solar on the roof? A carbon-neutral campus?

Let’s make it happen.

We work directly with you to put your ideas through their paces, overcome the implementation hurdles and turn your visions into reality.

Studio

Catalytic communication is an important dimension of building a sustainable community.

And there’s an art to it, as well as a science.

Engaging salons, strategic dialogues, thought-provoking art installations, and effective data visualizations…

In these ways and others, the Sustainability Action Studio can support you to stimulate reflection about sustainability in the life of your school and inspire change.

Fund

There is a lot of talk about green finance these days, but none of it’s flowing to schools.

So if you want to become sustainable, funding is probably your biggest challenge.

Whether it’s a traditional solution like applying for a grant, or something more creative, the Sustainability Action Fund can help you mobilize the money you need for the sustainable changes you want.

“A key skill I have developed during my time with Footprint is public speaking; rehearsing in front of other Footprint members and then actually speaking to the Board of Governors”
– Bosco Choi, Student
“What we accomplished with the audit won't affect the school campus within the next few months, but it will help us determine what we need to do for a greener campus in the future.”
– Mark Russell, Student
“Throughout the course of footprint, I have developed leadership and communication skills, which translated to increased confidence and greater ability to work with others.”
– Jade Tong, Student
“It was also really eye-opening to understand how impactful sustainable architecture can be to an organisation's carbon footprint.”
– Gaile Ng, Student
“Participating in the audit was different compared to schoolwork, as it is much more hands-on and requires application of thought and skill instead of requiring learning skills.”
– Esther Luk, Student
“The audit has made me more aware of the large carbon footprint associated with daily items, such as beef, which caused me to reflect on my consumption habits and I have decreased the amount of beef I consume.”
– Alisa Steiner, Student
“I enjoyed my experience working with Metanoia. Everyone was very committed to the process, I never felt scared to reach out if I needed help, and it was fun, which is the best part!”
– Louisa Choi, Student
